Neck Pain When Working From Home? These Exercises Can Help.

Work from home physio for neck & shoulder pain

It’s a pain working from home!

With a lot of people working from home at the moment, neck and shoulder pain have become very common.

Often the home environment is not conducive to being used as a workplace. This is especially true if space is limited and you end up sitting on the couch or at the kitchen table to work. We’re using laptops and mobile phones more and more and this generally causes a hunched over posture leading to neck and shoulder pain.

Posture and movement are key.

In the office environment, it’s more likely that workstations will be setup ergonomically (i.e. chair, desk and screens set up in a way that encourages good posture). Another factor is less movement in general during the working day. At the office we tend to move about to talk to colleagues, go to the printer, get a drink of water etc. Movement is necessary to keep aches and pains at bay.

Add some gentle movement to your day.

With this in mind, I’ve added a short video with some movements and stretches that you can easily do sitting or standing in your home whenever you get a break during the day. They don’t take long but can make a difference to how you feel. Enjoy!
